Bangers and Mash

Ingredients
  

  • Bratwurst
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 3 tbsp Butter
  • 1 Large Sweet Onion Thinly Sliced
  • 1 tbsp Jarred Minced Garlic
  • 3 tbsp Flour
  • 2 c Beef Broth
  • Your Favorite Mashed Potatoes See notes

Instructions
 

  • Heat oil in a large skillet, add sausages and brown all over. Ensure they are cooked through to the safe internal temperature.
  • Transfer to a plate. Drain all but 1 tbsp of the cooking grease. Add butter to the grease. Once butter is melted, add your onion. Cook onion until they begin to caramelize, stir occasionally and ensure they don't burn.
  • Mix in garlic. Then mix in the flour. Slowly add in the beef broth a little at a time, about ¼ c at a time. Stirring allow it to thicken as you pour each time. Simmer and stir as the gravy cooks. Cook till it is thickened.
  • Add the sausages back into the pan. Serve over your favorite mashed potatoes.

Notes

For our mash potatoes, we simply boil potatoes till done, drain, and mash. Then we add a little butter, milk, and a bit of sour cream with salt and pepper.
